Eclectic Poem is an accretive installation that gathers audio recordings of users to make a poem. The poem is programed in the patch and users record words in order of the poem so they can play it back and hear the part of the poem that has been collected. The poem is about how valuable human connections can be. When the user plays it back and hears the juxtaposition of different peoples' voices, it hopefully makes them feel sentimental. Different peoples' words come together to make something new: a poem and this poem is about how people come together to make something new like friendships or love. I made this by having the user press a button that starts a 1.5 second recording. 1.5 seconds seems long but I wanted to make it long enough for longer words and people that pronounce words slower. The patch plays the poem back by counting the order of the recordings.
